Jadeja Shatters Kumble, Yuvraj's World Cup Record. Kuldeep Closes In
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja surpassed iconic spinner Anil Kumble and became India's leading wicket-taker as a spinner in a single World Cup edition but Kuldeep Yadav is breathing down his neck as he is also close to claiming the record. India played their final group-stage match against the Netherlands and emerged victorious to keep their unbeaten run intact. Jadeja scalped two wickets against the Dutch side which took his tally of wickets in the World Cup 2023 to 16 wickets.
Kumble held the record for almost 27 years, as in the 1996 World Cup he claimed 15 wickets in a single edition. Yuvraj Singh matched his tally and became the joint-leading wicket-taker by dismissing 15 batters in India's World Cup 2011 triumph.
Kuldeep Yadav could become India's leading wicket-taker as a spinner by the end of the tournament as he has registered 14 wickets to his name.
The Chinaman spinner was also among the wicket-takers during India's 160-run victory over the Dutch team. The Men in Blue exercised control after winning the toss and electing to bat first.
Shreyas Iyer (128*) and KL Rahul's (102) tons left the Dutch bowling line-up at their wit's end, while half-centuries from skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill laid the foundation of a total of 410/4.
The Indian team successfully defended their total successfully and clinched a 160-run win. Kohli and Rohit stepped up in the bowling department claiming a wicket each while the star bowlers did their magic and ended the league stage on a high note.
Mohammed Siraj led the India bowling attack after he bagged two wickets by giving only 29 runs. Netherlands batters tried to win the game but couldn't stand in front of the Indian bowling attack.
India will now face New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday which will be a rematch of the 2019 World Cup, hoping to change the past result and march towards the final.

During India's Cricket World Cup match against Netherlands, Smith, while sitting in the commentary box, copied the style of Shastri leaving the latter and another ex-India player Anjum Chopra in splits.

Centuries from Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul powered India to a 160-run World Cup win over the Netherlands as they completed the group stage with a perfect nine wins in nine games.
Iyer (128 not out) and Rahul (102) put on 208 runs to guide India to 410-4.
India then employed nine bowlers, including part-timers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, to dismiss the Dutch for 250 in the tournament's concluding league match in Bengaluru.
The hosts will face New Zealand in the first semi-final in Mumbai on Wednesday followed by the second last-four clash between Australia and South Africa the next day in Kolkata.
Iyer smashed his first World Cup ton in a match where all the top-five Indian batsmen went past the fifty mark on a batting-friendly pitch.
He reached his hundred -- his fourth in ODI cricket -- off 84 balls. He ended with 10 fours and five sixes.
Bengaluru-born Rahul raced to his ton with two sixes for the fastest Indian hundred in World Cups off 62 balls.
He departed four balls later as India fell short of their highest ever World Cup total of 413-5 v Bermuda in 2007.
Kohli reached his half century but fell for 51, silencing the crowd who had been anticipating the star batsman's 50th ODI ton after he equalled Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 in the team's previous win over South Africa.
Skipper Rohit, who hit 61, and Shubman Gill laid the foundations for the total in an opening stand of 100 with the pair hitting regular boundaries.
Gill fell for 51 off Paul van Meekeren and fellow quick Bas de Leede dismissed Rohit after the captain reached his fourth 50-plus score including a ton in the tournament.

Kohli Equals Sachin's Big World Cup Record With Fifty Against Netherlands
Talismanic batter Virat Kohli failed to score his 50th ODI century but ended up equaling Sachin Tendulkar's record with another half-century during the Cricket World Cup 2023 match between India and Netherlands in Bengaluru on Sunday. This was the 7th half-century for Kohli in this year's Cricket World Cup and he equalled Sachin Tendulkar and Shakib Al Hasan as the batter with the most number of half-centuries in one edition of the tournament. Kohli ended up scoring 51 off 5 deliveries with 5 fours and one six.

India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first against the Netherlands.

The hosts were the first team to book a semi-final spot and will play New Zealand at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.
"Good opportunity for us to tick all the boxes. Extremely happy with how we have played this tournament, it makes the job easier as a skipper," said Rohit.
Netherlands made an early impact after they stunned South Africa but remain bottom of the table with just two victories.
Captain Scott Edwards said his team is unchanged from their previous loss to England, but was looking forward to what he feels "is the biggest crowd we've had in the tournament".
Five-time winners Australia and South Africa will play the second semi-final in Kolkata on Thursday.

Australia Face Happy Selection Headache Ahead Of WC Semifinal: Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins on Saturday conceded Australia will be facing selection headaches going into their World Cup semifinal against South Africa, after Mitchell Marsh's 177 not out powered the five-time champions to a commanding eight-wicket win against Bangladesh in the last league game. Australia, who began the World Cup campaign with two losses on the trot, have now seven consecutive wins and will face South Africa in the second semifinal at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 16. Marsh's 177 not out (132 balls, 17x4s, 9x6s) follows a stunning knock of 201 not out from all-rounder Glenn Maxwell against Afghanistan in Mumbai last week, who single-handedly made the bulk of the runs when Australia were reduced to 91 for seven chasing 292.
"We thought it was a really good wicket and thought we could get that total. All 15 players have played this tournament now and we go up to Kolkata, re-assess and perhaps a few selection headaches there," Cummins said at post-match presentation ceremony.
With injury to Travis Head (hand) and Marsh returning home during their World Cup campaign due to a personal loss, it was only in their last two matches that Australia finally had their preferred squad of 15 at their disposal.
Maxwell, who struggled with severe cramps all over his body in his monumental knock against Afghanistan, will be in mix for the semifinal along with Marsh. The 'selection headache' originates from the fact that both Maxwell and Marsh have struck two centuries each in the World Cup.
"He (Mitchell Marsh) played beautifully and the tempo he played with was sustainable and the way he finished off the innings, it's a scary prospect to have him next week," Cummins said.
"(Winning) seven games in a row, I think chasing 300 was something really special and everything is clicking together," said Cummins after Australia recorded their highest successful chase in World Cup history.
Marsh said he was surprised to have been named the Man of the Match after a costly spell with the ball in the first half of the match.
"It's rare that you'd win the Man of the Match award after going for nearly fifty from 4 overs, but I would want to contribute more to the team. It was important for me to back myself at (No) 3, knowing when Head comes back, I'll have to go down. Have failed a few times, but have backed myself to perform," he said.
"Sure my mum and dad would be watching back home and they would be happy with this, my grandpop (who died last week) was a great man and I'm sure he'd be happy out there," he added.
"I think we're peaking well at the moment and looking forward to the semi-finals in Kolkata," he added.
Stand-in captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said Bangladesh will look into all their league stage games for improvement after they finished eighth with two wins and seven defeats.
"It's disappointing, we didn't play our best this tournament. We will see what we can do better from now," he said.
"Mahmuduallah batted really well in this World Cup and Shakib (Al Hasan) also bowled well in a couple of games. We have to improve as a team. It is not about individual performances, we want to look at the nine games and work on areas we need to improve," he said.
