Apple maintains workplace policies that unlawfully discourage employees from discussing working conditions, a US labour agency has found.
The National Labor Relations Board will issue a complaint targeting the policies and claiming Apple executives made comments that stymied worker organising unless the company settles first, an agency official said on Monday in an email reviewed by Reuters.
The official had sent the email to Ashley Gjovik, a former Apple senior engineering manager who filed complaints against the company in 2021.
The NLRB investigates charges filed by workers and unions and decides whether to issue formal complaints against companies. The agency can seek to strike down workplace policies and require employers to notify workers of legal violations.
Apple did not respond to a request for comment. The company has said it takes worker complaints seriously and thoroughly investigates them.
An NLRB spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Gjovik in an email on Tuesday said she hoped the development will spur more Apple workers to speak up about working conditions and to organise.
In her complaints, Gjovik said various Apple rules, including those relating to confidentiality and surveillance policies, deter employees from discussing issues such as pay equity and sex discrimination with each other and the media.
Gjovik also cited a 2021 email from Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook that allegedly sought to stop workers from speaking to the press and said "people who leak confidential information do not belong here."
Many tech companies have strict confidentiality policies designed to protect trade secrets.
US labour law prohibits policies that could discourage workers from exercising their right to band together to improve working conditions.
Apple is facing several pending NLRB complaints, including one claiming the tech giant unlawfully required workers at an Atlanta retail store to attend anti-union meetings. Apple has denied wrongdoing.

In the inaugural edition of the DP World ILT20, Adani Sportsline-owned Gulf Giants have impressed all. With some of the best numbers to back them up, playing for the Giants is a daunting task, and Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus has been among the stars of the campaign so far. The all-rounder, who is playing in first T20 franchise tournament, scored a crucial half-century when the Giants defeated the Dubai Capitals in the first phase of the tournament.
"It has been a brilliant period so far with Adani's Gulf Giants, who have made me feel at home since I joined the squad. The set-up all-round has been excellent and enjoyable as well. They've put in place a system where you can thrive and concentrate on producing your best cricket," Erasmus said.
At the ILT20, a standout aspect is the fact that all team XIs are required to have a couple of players, at least, from associate nations. And undoubtedly, Erasmus is quite happy about that.
"There's long been a push for the development of associate cricket around the world, and this is a great initiative from the ILT20 to bring in that rule. The associate players continuously yearn for opportunities like this, and are also showing that they can hold their own in such situations as well. It has been a phenomenal experience. I don't think associate cricket has been in a better place than the last couple of years," he added.
Erasmus also touched upon the fact that he has enjoyed his time working with coach Andy Flower, a legend of Zimbabwean cricket, saying that the former England coach is a reassuring figure.
“I've always known that Andy Flower has a great name out in the cricketing world. And having experienced that now myself in the last three weeks I've enjoyed my time with Andy. He's explained to me that I should not hesitate to play my own game, and that's really reassuring coming in in from the outside.”
South Africa took an unassailable 2-0 lead over England in the three-match ODI series, after claiming a five-wicket win in the second ODI on Sunday. Asked to bat first, the visitors posted 342/7 in 50 overs after Jos Buttler and Harry Brook played top knocks of 94* and 80 respectively. However, the game completely turned upside down in the second innings when South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma smashed 109 off 102 balls as the hosts chased down the target with five wickets and five balls to spare. Apart from such a spectacular win, one moment which grabbed everyone's attention was the banter between Jos Buttler and Rassie van der Dussen that was caught on stump mic.
In the 19th over of South Africa's chase, a conversation between England skipper and wicketkeeper Buttler, Jos Buttler, and van der Dussen was captured on the stump mic. Buttler was heard saying, "I am trying to get to the ball” to which Dussen says “I saw”.

The conversation then got intense when Buttler said, "What's your problem Rassie. It's not all about you all the time. I am allowed to try and catch the ball”. Later, the umpire entered as a peacemaker and asked both players to calm down.
Coming to the match, Bavuma sent England in to bat, reasoning correctly that there could be early life in the pitch. England struggled initially, losing both openers inside the first seven overs, but prospered as batting conditions eased.
Harry Brook, playing in his second one-day international after being dismissed for naught in the first match on Friday, made 80 off 75 balls. Captain Jos Buttler hit an unbeaten 94 off 82 deliveries.
Moeen Ali was also in fine form for England, hitting 51 off 45 balls and sharing a fifth-wicket stand of 106 with Buttler.
There was a brief lull after Ali's dismissal but England scored 60 runs off the last four overs, with Sam Curran hitting three sixes in scoring 28.
Bavuma and Quinton de Kock made a fast start, putting on 77 for the first wicket in 12 overs. All the South African batsmen made contributions and the hosts were always up with or close to the required rate. David Miller hit 58 not out off 37 balls and finished the match with a six off Chris Woakes.

Labelled by many as the ‘future of Indian batting', Shubman Gill hasn't been able to create the same impact in T20 cricket for India as he has been in ODI cricket. After yet another poor show at the top for the national team, Gill has been given a subtle warning by former India opener Gautam Gambhir who feels the player still ‘hasn't found his feet in T20 format'. Gill was dismissed for just 11 runs off 9 balls, squandering another opportunity to become an important member of the Indian team.
After the conclusion of the 2nd T20I against New Zealand, Gambhir highlighted how Shubman has struggled against spin bowling. He urged the right-handed batter to improve the skill of handling spinners, especially on turning wickets.
“I feel Shubman Gill has to get better against spin, on a spinning wicket. He had his struggles against Bangladesh as well. Yes, he has been fabulous in the 50-over format, got good wickets to bat on, with 5 fielders inside, But then, you've got to get better when the ball starts spinning, gripping and bouncing as well. He will get tested, not only against seam but spin as well,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.
Gambhir also feels Gill's ‘basic game' suits ODI cricket more than T20 cricket. On the contrary, Prithvi Shaw is a player whose ‘basic game' suits the shortest format more.
“He still hasn't found his feet in T20 format, when it comes to playing international cricket. Sometimes you have to play at a different tempo. His basic game suits 50-over format. Someone like Prithvi Shaw, his basic instinctive game is made for T20 cricket. Shubman Gill is someone whose basic game is made for 50-over format. How quickly he learns and adapts to this format will decide whether he will be able to play all the three formats,” Gambhir asserted.
In the first two T20Is against New Zealand, Shubman has scored just 18 runs cumulatively. In comparison, he had scored over 350 runs in the 3-match ODI series against the same opponents.
Shahrukh Khan's latest movie Pathaan has broken multiple records since its release on January 25 and it has now gained a famous fan – Australian cricket team star David Warner. Warner, who is well known for his online videos featuring Indian songs and movie scenes, posted a hilarious video to pay tribute to the movie. In the video which has gone viral on social media, Warne juxtaposed his own face on that of Shahrukh Khan's in various scenes from the movie Pathaan. "Wow what a film, can you name this?? #legend #icon," Warner captioned the post which he released along with the song 'Besharam Rang'.
The video was loved by several users on Instagram and India bowler Khaleel Ahmed also appreciated the effort by Warner. The Australia opener had previously posted videos of him dancing to Indian songs.
The spy-thriller, which marked Shahrukh Khan's return to the big screens after more than four years, went on to become the biggest opener in Hindi cinema history with a record of ₹ 55 crore. As a result, it was able to beat the record created by massive films like RRR and KGF 2.
Warner will be travelling to India for the upcoming Test series which will start on February 9. The Australia opener recently said that he was exhausted due to the extended home season where he took part in the Big Bash League (BBL) for the Sydney Thunder franchise. Just ahead of the BBL season, Warner also played in all three Test matches for the Australian cricket team.
Indian spinners revelled on a turning track before the batters made heavy weather of a small target to register a scrappy series levelling win over New Zealand in the second T20 International in Lucknow on Sunday. The trio of Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav impressed on a helping surface to limit a self-destructing New Zealand to 99 for eight, their lowest total against India in the shortest format. It should have been a straight-forward run chase but the top-order comprising Ishan Kishan (19 off 32), Shubman Gill (11 off 9) and Rahul Tripathi (13 off 18) had a tough time again in spin-friendly conditions.
In the end, Hardik Pandya (15 not out off 20) and Suryakumar Yadav (26 not out off 31) took the team over the line with a ball to spare and six wickets in hand.
The series decider will be played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
With the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli not playing T20s since the World Cup last year, opportunities have been presented to the younger players who are yet to make them count.
Kishan has gone off the boil since his double hundred in Bangladesh while Gill has not been able to carry on his scintillating ODI form into T20s. The stylish right-hander fell while trying to pull a spinner for the second game in a row but was surprised by the amount of turn.
Tripathi, who is getting to play at number three in Kohli's absence, was unable to take the attack to the New Zealand spinners.
The Indians felt the pressure and that was evident with the run out of Washington Sundar, who sacrificed his wicket to ensure Surya's stay in the middle.
Since the asking rate was never an issue, India could afford to stutter in the chase.
A four after 45 balls, coming from Hardik's bat in the 19th over, released a lot of pressure before the skipper completed the job alongside Surya who hit the winning four.
Earlier, Hardik decided to employ spinners from both ends in the powerplay after opening the bowling himself.
Wrist spinners Kuldeep (1/17) and Chahal (1/4), playing in a T20 together after a while, extracted a lot out of the Lucknow surface while finger spinner Washington (1/17) produced another tidy spell.
Chahal was left licking his lips after the first ball of his opening spell. It was a ripper that pitched on leg stump before beating the outside edge of Finn Allen's bat. The opener perished two balls later trying to reverse sweep with the ball thudding into his back leg before crashing on to the stumps.
The in-form Devon Conway too fell to a reverse sweep as the ball kissed his gloves on way to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.
New Zealand were soon reduced to 35 for three in seventh over when the dangerous Glenn Phillips missed a straight ball from Deepak Hooda in his attempt to reverse sweep the part time off-spinner.
Daryl Mitchell got a beauty from Kuldeep that came back in sharply to shatter the stumps.
New Zealand bat deep but none of their batters were able to apply themselves on a testing pitch.
Pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has been guilty of bowling too many no balls lately and Shivam Mavi, were only used in the death overs.
Arshdeep did well to take wickets in his two tough overs and conceded only eight runs. Hardik ended with figures of one for 25 in four overs.
Team India lost the first T20I of the three-match series against New Zealand in Ranchi on Friday. After sweeping the ODIs 3-0, India failed to carry the momentum forward as the Kiwis won the match by 21 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. After India's defeat, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria criticised captain Hardik Pandya, saying that the star all-rounder struggled tactically. Kaneria said that Hardik failed to rotate his bowlers smartly, adding that the latter didn't have any plans.
"Hardik Pandya was not smart with his rotation of bowlers. He brought Shivam Mavi into the attack very late. He should have been brought in early. He could have also used Deepak Hooda a bit more, given the amount of turn that was on offer. This is where Hardik missed a trick or two, tactically. He didn't seem to have any plans," Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.
Kaneria also questioned Hardik's role as a bowler, saying that he didn't bowl well with the new ball.
"The Indian bowlers leaked a lot of runs. Hardik Pandya didn't bowl well with the new ball. He did not hit the right areas and conceded 33 runs in his three overs," he added.
For New Zealand, Opener Devon Conway made 52 off 35 balls and Daryly Mitchell smashed an unbeaten 59 as the Kiwis posted 176/6 after being invited to bat first in Ranchi.
In reply, India were restricted to 155/9, with Washington Sundar smashing a gritty half-century.
Sundar survived three dropped catches to hit 50 off 28 balls after Suryakumar Yadav (47) and Hardik Pandya (21) had stitiched a partnership of 68.

It was a homecoming for Ishan Kishan during the first T20I encounter between India and New Zealand in Ranchi on Friday. Although the hosts were beaten by 21 runs after a disappointing performance by the batsmen, Kishan impressed his home crowd by a brilliant direct hit to dismiss Michael Bracewell. During the 18th over of the New Zealand innings, Daryll Mitchell was unable to hit the ball properly and it hit his thigh pad to roll slowly towards the keeper. Kishan showed brilliant presence of mind to pick up the ball quickly and pull off a direct hit to make sure that the batsman was unable to reach the crease in time.

New Zealand produced a dominating performance with bat and ball to defeat India by 21 runs in the opening T20I of the three-match series at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Friday.
New Zealand now lead the three-match series 1-0.
Chasing a target of 177, Washington Sundar scored the highest for Team India with 50 of 28 deliveries while vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav played a gritty knock of 47 runs. For New Zealand, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner and Lockie Ferguson bagged two wickets each.
Earlier, Devon Conway's gritty fifty and Daryl Mitchell's blistering knock of 59 propelled New Zealand to 176/6 against India.
Mitchell scored the highest runs for New Zealand and his 59 came of 30 balls. Devon Conway contributed with a knock of 52. Arshdeep Singh conceded most runs for India with New Zealand batsmen scoring 51 in four overs of his spell.

Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell conjured up fluent and fiery half-centuries before the spinners choked the hosts as New Zealand outplayed India by 21 runs in the opening T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series on Friday. Asked to take first strike, opener Conway continued his purple patch with a 35-ball 52, while Mitchell smashed a 30-ball unbeaten 59, which included a last-over thrashing of Arshdeep Singh for 27 runs, to power the Black Caps to a challenging 176 for six. The Kiwi bowlers, led by Mitchell Santner (2/11) and Michael Bracewell (2/31), then spun a web around the home batters, restrict India to 155 for 9 in 20 overs.
India had a disastrous start to their chase with both Ishan Kishan (4) and Rahul Tripathi (0) sent back to the pavillion by the third over.
While Ishan was bamboozled by Bracewell, pacer Jacob Duffy (1/27) induced a fine edge off Rahul's blade. Shubman Gill (7) too perished soon after being deceived by Santner as India slumped to 15 for three.
Suryakumar Yadav (47), however, looked in good touch as he picked up two boundaries before picking one off his hips for a six off Lockie Ferguson (1/22).
Santner then bowled a maiden as India reached 33 for three in the powerplay overs.
With the pitch offering grip and turn, New Zealand spinners controlled the proceedings keeping it flat and mixing the length even as Hardik unleashed a drive over extra cover to ease the pressure.
Suryakumar too brought out his range of sweep shots to keep the scoreboard ticking. When Blair Tickner was introduced, he played a square cut and then sent another one through backward point for successive fours as India reached 74 for 3 in 10 overs.
Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi was then sent inside out over extra cover for a maximum but New Zealand struck twice in next five balls to remove both the set batters.
While Surya chipped one off Sodhi to Finn Allen at long on, Hardik was caught and bowled by Bracewell as it all went downhill after that with India slipping to 85 for five.
Deepak Hooda smacked one over the rope before being stumped. Santner then ran out Shivam Mavi. Ferguson bowled a wicket maiden, removing Kuldeep.
Washington Sundar smashed a fighting 28-ball 50 but it was too late.
Earlier, Indian bowlers struggled to get their line and length, allowing New Zealand to get off to a good start.
Allen (35) smashed Hardik for successive boundaries, while a juicy half volley from Arshdeep was hit straight to the boundary.
Conway, who had scored 138 in the third ODI in Indore, also punished the left-arm pacer for a widish ball as New Zealand put up 23 in two overs.
Sundar, however, got a lot of purchase from the wicket and soon saw the back of Allen and Mark Chapman (0) in the space of five deliveries to reduce New Zealand to 43 for 2.
Conway, however, kept it going with two fours and a six off Umran Malik, who bled 16 runs in his only over.
Hardik brought himself back and tried to mix his bowling, using more cutters and slower deliveries as New Zealand reached 79 for 2 in 10 overs.
Conway used the slog sweep and his feet to pick up boundaries off Kuldeep and Hooda as New Zealand crossed the 100-mark in the 13th over.
Kuldeep then struck with a googly as Glenn Phillips went for a slog, only to be holed out by Surya at deep midwicket.
Daryl Mitchell then joined Conway and, after surviving two video referrals for a caught behind and an LBW, blasted Hardik for two maximums.
Conway, on the other hand, completed his fifty in the 16th over but was sent packing soon by Arshdeep with Hooda taking the catch at long-off.
Ishan Kishan then ran out new man Bracewell (1) and Shivam Mavi had Santner (7) caught by Rahul Tripathi as India seemed to have pulled things back.
However, Arshdeep conceded 27 runs in the last over, with Mitchell clobbering him for three sixes and a four.
After claiming a 3-0 clean sweep in the ODIs against New Zealand, Team India is all set to take on the same rivals in a three-match T20I series, starting from Friday. With the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli being rested, all-rounder Hardik Pandya will once again be donning the captain's cap, with Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy. The hosts had thrashed Sri Lanka 2-1 in the three-match T20Is, earlier this month under Hardik's captaincy. With Prithvi Shaw getting named in the squad, it will be interesting to see who will be sealing a spot in the Playing XI for the first T20I match on Friday in Ranchi.
Here's our predicted India XI for the first T20I:
Shubman Gill: The 23-year-old right-hander impressed everyone with his heroics in the ODI series against New Zealand, where he bagged the Player of the Series award. However, in the last T20Is against Sri Lanka, Gill could only manage scores like 7, 5, and 46 but he is definitely capable of playing a bigger innings.
Ishan Kishan: In the absence of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan holds the responsibility of wicketkeeping. Apart from this, he is known for playing powerful knocks but he miserably failed in the recent T20Is against Sri Lanka.
Suryakumar Yadav: The star batter entertained everyone with his brilliant century against Sri Lanka in the third T20I match. Surya took just 51 balls and played an unbeaten knock of 112* runs to join the elite of batters with three or more tons in the shortest format.
Rahul Tripathi: The right-handed batter made his international debut in the second T20I against Sri Lanka but failed to leave a mark as he was dismissed for just 5 runs. However, he played a quick knock of 35 off 16 balls in the third match.
Hardik Pandya: The skipper failed to impress in the T20Is against Sri Lanka and scored only 45 runs in three matches. Apart from this, he also scalped two wickets in the third match.
Deepak Hooda: The right-handed batter played a fiery knock of 41 not out off 23 balls in the first match, but failed to repeat his heroics in the second and third T20I. Hooda would be eager to put up another good show.
Kuldeep Yadav: Despite the presence of Washington Sundar, who is a spin allrounder, the team management might be tempted to use Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm wrist spinner can form a lethal combo with Chahal
Arshdeep Singh: The young India pacer had a forgettable outing in the second T20I, where he registered an unwanted hat-trick of no-balls. However, he made a brilliant comeback in the third match and scalped three wickets and leaked only 20 runs in 2.4 overs.
Shivam Mavi: He made his international debut in the first T20I and impressed all with his figures of 4/22. But went wicketless in the next two games.
Umran Malik: The Jammu and Kashmir pacer scalped seven wickets in three matches against Sri Lanka and impressed everyone with his fiery pace.
Yuzvendra Chahal: The veteran spinner scalped three wickets in the T20Is against Sri Lanka. He needs to prove his mettle.
Former New Zealand cricketer Craig Cumming is unhappy with head coach Gary Stead's persistence with opener Finn Allen, who failed with the bat in the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against India. The hosts whitewashed the Kiwis 3-0 with Allen, 23, scoring two consecutive ducks and a 40, raising doubts about his selection in the New Zealand side with the ODI World Cup in India less than nine months away.
The cricketer had made his 50-over debut last year with a few impressive scores against Ireland and the West Indies but has quickly gone into a downward spiral.
"I'm concerned around the style of cricketers we're trying to produce. I want to produce Devon Conways, I want to produce Kane Williamsons; the guys that have got craft and can bat and they've got more than one (skill)?," Cumming told SENZ Mornings on Thursday.
"Finn Allen at the moment, he's young, he's learning but (he's in a) really important position for us at the top of the order and he seems to be at the moment a one-pace, one-line hitter.
"At the moment it's failing and maybe Finn's getting the experience, I mean they've got to stick with him, but he's not producing enough at the moment." Cumming compared Allen with India skipper Rohit Sharma, who is not just a strong hitter of the ball but also has the required skill-set to play according to the situation.
"You look at Rohit Sharma and the way they (India) play, yes they're powerful but they also have skill in the way they go about executing their plans. I just worry at the moment that Finn's sort of been thrown into that mix where it's one pace, batter up, it's a baseball style mentality; try to hit home runs and that's all we want."
Legendary Australian wicket-keeper Ian Healy has questioned the national selectors for not considering Steve Smith in the role of an opener in white-ball cricket. Smith, 33, has notched up 328 runs in four innings for the Big Bash League (BBL) side Sydney Sixers, scoring 36, 101, 125 not out and 66. Healy says it is difficult to ignore Smith's credentials as opener, especially since David Warner and Aaron Finch are nowhere near their best.
Finch retired from ODIs late last year after a miserable season, which also saw the hosts exit the T20 World Cup at home prematurely.
Healy also compared Smith with the legendary Don Bradman and said it was a "privilege" watching the cricketer bat.
Asked whether he would like to see Smith open in the shortest format, Healy said, "Definitely, how could you not?" "Who opened with (David) Warner in the T20 World Cup? It was Finchy (Aaron Finch) who was captain. Both Warner and Finch aren't playing anywhere near as well as Smith, so he overtakes both of those in my eyes with the way he's batting now," Healy told Sportsday NSW on Wednesday.
The 58-year-old added that not just T20Is, the selectors should consider Smith for the opener's role in the 50-over World Cup in India next year.
"We don't play many international T20s so hopefully he's doing this (scoring big in BBL) in the lead-up to the next World Cup. Even in the 50-over game I'd be opening with him as well." Healy indicated that very few batters in Australia came anywhere close to Smith in terms of technique.
"I feel like it's a privilege watching him. When he gets out, seeing how hard the others are doing it, the discrepancy between him and the rest is unbelievable, it's very Bradman-like.
"He's just doing it so easily and how he's done it, he'd have a technical idea of what he's doing -- he's talking grip and everything like that, but I like his feet, his feet are still and his head is still.
"When he played at his best maybe three years ago or four years ago, he was walking all over the place but when the bowler delivered the ball he was dead still, and his feet were set.
"He's finding the middle of the bat incredibly often and it feels like a privilege watching him play like this, he wasn't doing it six months ago."
Returning to competitive cricket after close to six months, India's premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja went wicket-less in his 17 overs on a slow Chepauk pitch, as Tamil Nadu made 183/4 against Saurashtra in their Ranji Trophy match in Chennai on Tuesday. In the presence of national selector Sridharan Sharath, who was seen talking to Jadeja after the first day's play, the star left-arm spinner's fitness was put to test ahead of the Australia Test series. He ended the day with none for 36.
Jadeja is leading Saurashtra in their last group league match with Cheteshwar Pujara and regular captain Jaydev Unadkat rested ahead of the marquee four-match rubber, beginning at Nagpur on February 9.
The all-rounder, who pulled out after injuring his knee during the Asia Cup last September, is also part of the Indian squad for the first two Tests but his inclusion in the 17-man squad is subject to fitness.
Opting to bat, Tamil Nadu lost the wicket of Narayan Jagadeesan in the second over of the day. But thereafter, opener Sai Sudharsan, twins Baba Aparajith and Baba Indrajith steadied the ship with identical scores of 45.
Indrajith remained unbeaten with Vijay Shankar giving him company on 11 at the other end.
At CCI, Maharashtra rode on Kedar Jadhav's second century in five innings to overcome an early scare and post 314 for six against Mumbai.
Maharashtra lost Pavan Shah before they could open their account while their No. 3, Naushad Shaikh, also fell cheaply for 12 with the team's score reading 23/2. But Jadhav salvaged his side with his 128 from 168 balls (18x4, 1x6) and a 105-run partnership with Siddhesh Veer (48).
Veer, however, could not get to his fifty and was dismissed by Shams Mulani before they lost Ankit Bawne for the addition of just one run. Jadhav, though, continued strongly at the other end.
After Jadhav's departure, Saurabh Nawale produced a fine rearguard action at No. 7, scoring a gritty 56 not out.
Brief scores: In Chennai: Tamil Nadu 183/4; 90 overs (Sai Sudharsan 45, Baba Aparajith 45, Baba Indrajith 45; Chirag Jani 2/30).
In Mumbai: Maharashtra 314/6; 87 overs (Kedar Jadhav128, Saurabh Nawale 56 batting, Siddhesh Veer 48; Tushar Deshpande 2/64, Mohit Avasthi 2/70, Shams Mulani 2/105) vs Mumbai.
In Vizianagaram: Assam 113; 37.5 overs (Rishav Das 30; M Madhav Rayudu 4/12, KV Sasikanth 3/34). Andhra 160/3; 47 overs (Hanuma Vihari 80, Abhishek Reddy 75).
In Hyderabad: Hyderabad 247/4; 90 overs (Rohit Rayudu 90, Chandan Sahani 67, Rahul Radesh 41; Divij Mehra 2/38) vs Delhi.

Ever since the 2022 T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli hasn't featured for India in the T20Is, though the team has played two T20I bilateral series after the mega event. Kohli was the highest run-getter at the 2022 T20 World Cup with a tally of 296 in six matches. He scored half-centuries in four of those games. His continued absence from the T20I side has led to question marks on his future in the format. The question once again got raised at the pre-match press conference ahead of India's third ODI against New Zealand. India head coach Rahul Dravid was present at the press meet.
"Till last year, Virat's position in the T20I team was in question..." a journalist asked, when Dravid interrupted him midway and said: "Not by us sir. Not at all, never by us!"
— Anna 24GhanteChaukanna (@Anna24GhanteCh2) January 23, 2023
On being asked, why Kohli wasn't playing in the T20Is, despite being named in ICC's T20I team of the year (2022), Dravid said: "There are certain priorities we need to give to certain white-ball tournaments at particular stages of time. The amount of cricket we are playing…the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the World Test Championship, potential qualification, important games for qualification perspective for us. There are certain white-ball tournaments that we had to prioritise, the priority after the T20 World Cup has been these six games.
"As you've seen, Virat has played all these six games. He'll get a bit of a break along with Rohit and 1 or 2 other guys in the next week while we play some T20I cricket. And they come refreshed on the 2nd and we have a good week's camp before we play Australia. So yeah it's just priorities. We have to prioritise certain formats."
India next play against New Zealand in the final ODI of a three-match series on Tuesday. The Rohit Sharma-led side has already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
India's omission of star Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma from an upcoming Twenty20 series against New Zealand is only intended to give them a rest, coach Rahul Dravid said Monday. The duo's absence from two successive series had stoked rumours that Hardik Pandya would take over as regular T20 captain Pandya led the team to a 2-1 T20 series win over Sri Lanka earlier this month and has been named captain for the New Zealand matches, starting with Friday's opener.
Speaking ahead of the final one-day international against New Zealand on Tuesday, Dravid said India would prioritise the 50-over format going into this year's Cricket World Cup.
"There are certain priorities we need to give to certain white-ball tournaments," said Dravid, whose team already have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series, told reporters in Indore.
India host Australia for four Tests starting February 9, followed by three ODI matches. "So the priority after last year's T20 World Cup has been these six games and Virat has played all these six games and he will get a bit of a break along with Rohit," Dravid said, referring to the ODIs against Sri Lanka and New Zeland.
Dravid was pressed further on India's plans for a split captaincy in different formats. "That's a question you need to ask the selectors but as of now, I don't think so," the 50-year-old said.
Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are arguably the two best batters of their respective eras. Tendulkar, who made his international debut in 1989, scored 100 centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs) before hanging his boots in 2013. Kohli, on the other hand, has been ruling the roost for more than a decade now. So far, Kohli has scored 74 international tons (27 in Tests, 46 in ODIs and one in T20Is), the most by any active players. The 34-year-old is just three ODI tons from equalling Tendulkar's all-time record of 49 hundreds.
While Kohli has often been compared to Tendulkar, opinions have been divided as to who is the greatest batter of all time.
During a recent interaction, India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, was asked to pick between the long-standing debate of who's the better batter between Sachin and Kohli.
However, Dev gave a perfect reply, saying that while anyone can have their picks, the new era will have better players, as compared to the previous ones.
"A player of that calibre, you don't have to pick one or two. It's a team of XI players. I might have my own likes or dislikes, but every generation is going to get better. In our time, Sunil Gavaskar was one of the finest then we saw Rahul Dravid, Sachin, Virender Sehwag and this generation Rohit, Virat and next generation will be better. You will see a better cricketer and performing better," Dev told Gulf News in an exclusive interview.
Speaking of Kohli, the former India captain has found his lost mojo, scoring three centuries in his last six ODI outings.
Indian cricket team spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took to Instagram to post a hilarious picture of teammate Kuldeep Yadav while travelling to Indore for the third ODI encounter against New Zealand. The two spinners are close friends and on Sunday, Chahal transformed Kuldeep into a lady using one of the filters in the social media platform. The picture prompted hilarious reactions from users on social media and Chahal also captioned the Instagram story “Travel Partner” - something that left a lot of people confused for some time.
India's relentless pace attack ran through a fragile New Zealand batting line-up as the hosts cantered to an eight-wicket win in the second ODI to seal the three-match series in Raipur on Saturday.
The Mohammed Shami-led attack produced an incisive effort to bowl out New Zealand for a meagre 108 before India knocked off the runs in 20.1 overs. Rohit Sharma hit a sublime 50 off 51 balls while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 40 off 53 deliveries. It was an emphatic win but the sea of fans that had flocked the remotely located Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium for Raipur's first international game was left wanting for more due to the early finish.
Shami (3/18) and Mohammed Siraj (1/10) made life tough for the batters with their high-quality seam bowling reducing New Zealand to a dismal 15 for five after Rohit opted to bowl. The odd ball stopping made the New Zealand batters' job tougher though the Indian openers made batting look easy in the evening.
The third and final ODI will be played in Indore on Tuesday.

Mohammed Shami made the ball talk on Saturday against New Zealand in the second ODI in Raipur. He took three wickets and formed a lethal bowling partnership with the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya. Courtesy of the Indian bowlers' might, New Zealand were reduced to 15/5 at one stage. The Blackcaps somewhat recovered to put up a 108-run total, which the Indian team chased down in 20.1 overs. Courtesy of the win, India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series against New Zealand.
After the match, Shami was asked at a press conference whether Team India was on the right track to build a team ahead of the ODI World Cup, to be held at home later this year.
Shami replied: "Dekhiye, mujhe nahi lagta logo ko abhi tak doubt hai Indian team ke upar. Aapko itne acche results diye hai 4-6 saalo mei. Agar uske baad bhi aapko doubt hai, ya aap World Cup ke liye sochte hai...bahut lamba time hai. Toh humare pass bahut series hai, practice karne ke liye, match khelne ke liye. Aur players ko jaan ne ke liye. Toh abhi humare pass time hai toh behetar hoga ki hum match-to-match jaaye. (See, I don't think people have doubt over the Indian team. We have been giving good results in past 4-6 years. If still have any doubts, we have a lot of time left for the World Cup. We have many series for match practice. We have more time to know players. We have time so it's better to take it match-to-match)."

Shubman Gill has been impressive, to say the least, with his recent outings. Among his list of admirers is the great Sunil Gavaskar too. Gill recently became the eighth batter to score a double ton in the ODI format. He 208 against New Zealand in the first ODI. Currently, the 23-year-old averages an astounding 71.38 in ODIs after playing 20 games. He has reached the triple-figure mark thrice in the 50-over format. Even in the second ODI on Sunday, Gill stayed unbeaten on 40 to ensure that India go past the 109-run target set by New Zealand without any hiccups.
After the match, Gill had a fun chat with Gavaskar. "I have given you a new nickname, Smoothman Gill. I hope you don't mind," Sunil Gavaskar during an interview after India's win in the second ODI against New Zealand in Raipur on Saturday.
Gill replied, "I don't mind at all, sir."
In the first ODI against New Zealand, Gill also completed 1000 runs in just 19 innings. He is the fastest Indian to reach the mark, surpassing Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan - both of whom scored 1000 runs in the format in 24 innings.
Gill is also now the joint second-fastest ever to score 1000 runs along with Pakistan's Imam-ul-Haq. In completing 1000 runs in 19 innings, Gill surpassed the likes of Viv Richards, Babar Azam, Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen - all of whom scored 1000 ODI runs in 21 innings. Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman (18 innings) is the fastest to 1000 runs in ODIs.
Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has also praised Gill's batting. "I became a big fan of Shubman Gill ever-since I saw him playing in the Test championship final against New Zealand. His elegance and style in his strokes are really commendable. The only concern I had was that why isn't he able to achieve a big score. But he played a very different kind of cricket yesterday. Very less people have such type of finish in their style at such a young age. I think he is one of his kind. I am not saying that he has achieved everything in his career but if he continues to play like this and work hard then he will be on the path where he will achieve greatness," Butt said on his YouTube channel.
Shoaib Akhtar on Saturday announced that he has disassociated himself from his biopic 'Rawalpindi Express - Running against the odds'. In July last year, Akhtar had unveiled the motion poster of the movie that was set to release on November 13 in 2023. However, in his latest social media post, the former Pakistan pacer has informed that he has "cut ties" with the makers of the film. Meanwhile, Akhtar also warned the makers of "severe legal action" if they continue to make his biography film and use his name or life story events in any way.
"Very sadly, I would like to inform all of you that after careful consideration of months, I have decided to disassociate myself from the film "Rawalpindi Express" and its makers by terminating the agreement through my management and legal team, said Akhtar in a tweet.
"Definitely, it was a dream project, and I tried a lot to prevent and stay in the boat, but unfortunately, things were not going well. Failure to resolve disagreements amicably and constant contractual violations finally resulted in us to cut ties with them. Therefore, I have left the project after complying all legal protocols of revoking the rights to the story of my life. Severe action will be taken if the makers continue to make biography film and use my name or life story events in any way," he added.

The former Pakistan cricket team pacer played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs and 15 T20Is taking 178, 247 and 19 wickets in the three formats respectively. However, more than the number of his wickets, it was his speed that terrified batters. He holds the record of the fastest recorded delivery in cricket.
Team India registered a 12-run victory in a thrilling first ODI against New Zealand and took 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Shubman Gill became the star for the hosts as he smashed his maiden double hundred and guided Team India to a total of 349/8. Later, Mohammed Siraj continued his blistering form and scalped four wickets as the visitors were restricted to 337, despite a heroic knock from Michael Bracewell (140). As the Rohit Sharma-led side benched young pacer Umran Malik in their last two ODI games, there are chances that he might find himself a place in the Playing XI in the second ODI against New Zealand on Saturday.
Here's what we think could be India's predicted XI vs New Zealand in the second ODI:
Rohit Sharma: The Indian skipper looked in good touch as he formed a promising partnership with Shubman Gill before departing for 34 off 38 balls. Rohit will definitely look to get a big score in the second ODI.
Shubman Gill: The young opener shattered numerous records during the first ODI after he achieved his maiden double hundred and became the youngest player in the world to reach the landmark. He will be the centre of attention in the second ODI.
Virat Kohli: The star batter completely shut the critics with a phenomenal performance in the ODIs against Sri Lanka. Even though he was dismissed for 8 runs in the first ODI against New Zealand, he will look to bounce back in the second match.
Suryakumar Yadav: The 32-year-old batter played a quick knock of 31 off 26 balls and gave a strong support to Gill. He has shown his true mettle in the previous matches and will definitely be looking for a big innings.
Ishan Kishan: After being benched for the ODIs against Sri Lanka despite scoring a double ton against Bangladesh, the wicketkeeper-batter failed to leave a mark in the first match against the Kiwis as he got dismissed for 5.
Hardik Pandya: The all-rounder scored 28 runs off 38 balls in the first ODI. He also scalped one wicket but he turned out to be really expensive as he conceded 70 runs in his seven-over spell.
Washington Sundar: Coming in as a replacement for Shreyas Iyer, the all-rounder scored 12 runs off 14 balls but went wicketless with the ball.
Shardul Thakur: The bowling all-rounder could get only three runs with the bat but went on to scalp two wickets. His economy in the first ODI was 7.40.
Kuldeep Yadav: The wrist-spinner once again proved his worth in the team as he scalped two wickets and also delivered a maiden over. He only conceded 43 runs in his eight-over spell.
Mohammad Shami: The veteran pacer scalped one wicket and leaked 69 runs in 10 overs. However, he also picked up an injury on his finger while trying to take a catch. There are chances that the management might give him a rest and bring Umran Malik in his place.
Mohammed Siraj: The 28-year-old pacer completely dismantled New Zealand's batting line-up as he scalped four wickets. Siraj is still looking for his maiden five-wicket haul in the ODIs.
